Dynamics 365 Business Central

Business Central connects service-to-service through a Microsoft Entra app registration. No user password is shared. Available on the Enterprise plan.

Who does this: a Microsoft Entra admin and a Business Central admin.

  1. In the Azure portal, open Microsoft Entra ID → App registrations → New registration. Copy the Directory (tenant) ID and the Application (client) ID.
  2. Under API permissions, add Dynamics 365 Business Central → Application permissions → API.ReadWrite.All, then grant admin consent. Invogi only reads data, but this is the permission Microsoft requires for service access.
  3. Under Certificates & secrets, create a client secret and copy its Value now. It is shown only once.
  4. In Business Central, search for Microsoft Entra Applications. Create an entry with the client ID, set the state to Enabled, grant consent and assign a permission set that can read vendors and purchase invoices.
  5. Note the environment name (for example production) from the Business Central admin center, and the company ID (a GUID) from GET …/api/v2.0/companies.
  6. In Invogi, go to Integrations → ERP, choose Connect Business Central and enter the tenant ID, environment, company ID, client ID and client secret.

Vendors and purchase invoices, with amounts, dates and vendor invoice numbers. Vendor IBANs are read only if you configure the optional bank-account API below.

Business Central’s standard API does not expose vendor bank accounts. To enable bank-account change checks, publish a custom API page and enter its HTTPS endpoint (on api.businesscentral.dynamics.com) and its vendor ID and IBAN field names in the connection settings. Without it, duplicate and amount checks still run.

  • One connection covers one Business Central company.
  • Invogi never writes back to Business Central.

Authentication fails, or the sync returns 401/403. Check that admin consent was granted, the Entra Applications entry is Enabled in Business Central, and the client secret has not expired.

Company not found. Use the company’s ID (a GUID), not its display name, and make sure the environment name matches the one in the admin center.
